Homemade baby puree recipes

Somewhere around 6 months old, you baby will be ready to start eating solids. When we say "solid" we mean, very slightly more solid than breast milk. It is a time when the kitchen blender becomes the most used appliance in the house, as almost anything and everything becomes a homemade baby food puree delight.

We have a few baby food puree recipe ideas here in the recipe archives of BabyCentral.biz. one of my favourites is the Prune Puree and it's companion recipe, the Prune and Apricot Puree. High in fiber, and sweet and tasty. This is often a big hit with baby and mum alike.

Easy homemade baby puree recipes

Here are some easy to make homemade baby puree recipes. Simply thin any baby puree with water, breast milk or formula or thicken with rice cereal to gain the right consistency.

  • Banana baby Puree: Peal a ripe banana and use a fork to mash it to desired texture.
  • Avocado baby Puree: Cut the Avocado lengthwise, remove the pit, and mash the meat with a fork. In case your baby does not like the taste of Avocade, try to add a little bit of banana to make it a bit sweeter.

Other great homemade pureed baby food recipes include:

Awesome Avocado Smoothy - Avocados are always a big hit with babies, and if they don't like this, you can use it on your nachos!

Watching for an allergic reaction

When you start your 4-6 month old baby on solids, it is important to introduce only one food at a time in order to watch out for allergic reactions. It is recommended to leave approximatly 4-7 days between new foods. Reactions to watch for include a rash on baby's bottom or on his face, diarrhea, increased fussiness, and increased wind.

Avoid giving your baby eggs, honey, strawberries, nuts and cow milk before his first birthday as well as any other foods that a family member is allergic to, as allergies can run in a family.
