Developmental games from 7 - 9 months
What’s in the pot?Place an attractive toy into a container in front of the baby and the persuade him to take it out again. Start with containers which have large openings and gradually move on to those with smaller openings. You can also use a tissue box, where the baby only can feel an object inside and take it out again.
Clapping hands
First show your baby how you clap your hand and which noise it makes. Then grasp the baby by the wrists and demonstrate how to clap. Soon your baby will try it himself. Try to clap rhythmically along to songs, which will keep your baby interested as well and encourages him to clap too.
Drinking from the cup
Give the baby the opportunity to grasp a cup, hold it to his mouth and tilt it correctly. To start with you should train this new skill in the bathroom or in the garden. Pour only a little amount of water into the cup, so your baby does not start coughing badly if swallowed to much water. By eight or nine months, your baby will be able to drink from the cup without spilling too much of the content onto the fresh clothes.
Stir it up
Give your baby a cup and a spoon and soon he will place the spoon into the cup. The next step is to teach him to use the spoon to stir in the cup.
